Togaware is about open source and sharing –  sharing knowledge, experience, and services.

Our name was inspired around the concept of the toga which was a garment of Ancient Rome regarded as a sign of peace. A “toga-wearer”, or togatus, was a civilian of Rome and is contrasted with the sagum that was worn by the soldiers of war. Marcus Tullius Cicero wrote, in about 44BC, De Officiis, which contains the phrase cedant arma togae which literally translates as, let arms yield to the toga. May peace replace war and military power yield to civilian power as we work towards a civilised society of humanity with a focus on new ways to care, share, and collaborate.

Services are a concept gaining in understanding and popularity with the advent of cloud computing whereby we are looking to publish services that we can call upon to perform different tasks for us. Some services will be free, others will cost a little and others cost a lot but a shared marketplace will regulate the ecosystem. Think of smart phone apps but in the analytics space.

In this way we all benefit from working together to do the best we can with what we’ve got!

We make resources available from the Togaware web sites. Feel free to explore through the links on the menu bar.
