Solar Panel Efficiency |
Our home has solar panels for generating electricity.
The panels have a glass cover to protect the solar cells from the elements, particularly the rain.
More efficient to operate without the glass.
We can automate the process of uncovering the cells when it is not raining and ensuring they are covered if it does rain.
Model to predict rain the following day, and thereby weather seal the cells.
Efficiency benefits might be calculated.
With cover they operate at 70% of the efficiency without a cover. But if water gets in they deteriorate 1% each day (so 100 days of rain they are no good any more). Something like that.
Cloudiness impact.
