Install Ubuntu |
Clear instructions for installing Ubuntu are available from http://www.ubuntu.com/desktop/get-ubuntu/download. It is summarised below.
Download the latest version of the Ubuntu distribution from http://ubuntu.com. The file that you download will be a CD image, and have a filename extension of iso. Depending on your hardware it might have a name like ubuntu-10.04-desktop-i386.iso and be about 700MB.
The CD image should then be burnt to an actual CD. You will need to use your current operating systems applications to burn the iso to a blank CD.
Then restart your computer so that it will boot from the CD. A few questions will be asked, and then the ubuntu operating system will be installed. The installation will take about 30 minutes.
