PostgreSQL can
run SQL script files from the command line using --file
or
-f
. For example, in a text file like iris.sql
we might have the
following SQL commands:
DROP TABLE IF EXISTS iris;
CREATE TABLE iris(
sepal_length numeric,
sepal_width numeric,
petal_length numeric,
petal_width numeric,
species text);
COPY iris FROM '/home/kayon/iris.csv' with (format csv, header true);
SELECT COUNT(*) FROM iris;
